Cllr Sabeel Ahmed of Ravensthorpe Ward, has successfully addressed a longstanding concern for the residents of Mayor’s Walk by delivering much-needed traffic calming measures in the area.
After years of campaigning and listening to local residents, Cllr Ahmed secured the installation of speed bumps to tackle the issue of dangerous speeding along this busy road.
For years, local residents, particularly those with young children and elderly family members, raised concerns about the safety risks posed by speeding drivers. Thanks to Cllr Ahmed’s dedication and commitment to the community, speed cushions were installed, helping to make Mayor’s Walk a safer place for pedestrians and drivers alike.
The project, which was funded through the Community Leadership Fund, saw the collaborative efforts of Cllr Ahmed and Ex-Ward Councillor Gul Nawaz. Their hard work, along with the support of local residents, has led to this tangible result, improving the quality of life for those living and working in the area.
Local resident Bernie Tyson, who had campaigned for years for the changes, expressed his gratitude for the installation of the speed bumps, stating that the efforts of the councillors and the Nawaz family had finally made the road safer for all.
This achievement is a testament to Cllr Ahmed’s ongoing commitment to listening to his constituents and acting on their concerns. By addressing key safety issues in the community, Cllr Ahmed continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of local residents.
