To coincide with National Apprenticeship Week 2012 which runs this week, from 6-10th February 2012, RTT Group are pleased to announce that Stewart Jackson, MP for Peterborough, will be visiting the RTT Group offices and ‘enable’ Centre on Friday 10th February. Stewart will be looking at the work RTT Group are doing in the area to source and place apprentices within a large number of businesses, helping to grow and re-establish the local economy in these challenging times.
National Apprenticeship Week is the time when all eyes are on Apprenticeships and it’s all about raising the profile amongst employers, individuals, teachers, parents and the media.
Stewart Jackson, MP for Peterborough, said:
“This Government has delivered the biggest boost ever to apprenticeships. Apprenticeships are the best way to start our young people off on worthwhile career paths and to help them gain the first step on the employment ladder.
We have put in a range of support measures to demonstrate this Government’s commitment to supporting apprenticeships for our young people. This compares to the previous Government that let youth unemployment rise by 40 per cent without any helpful and sustainable schemes to address it.
I am pleased to be supporting National Apprenticeship Week and RTT. I hope that it highlights the tremendous contributions apprenticeships play to our society and our economy”.
On the same day, Mike Barton, RTT Group Executive Chairman will be taking part in a Job Swap with Shane Mayes, Learner Engagement Apprentice, and will be getting a feel for the role by conducting applicant screening along with some of the other duties Shane would normally undertake. Shane, on the other hand, will have his hands full working on agendas for the Senior Management Team!
Mike Barton, RTT Group Executive Chairman said:
“The whole concept of Apprenticeships is part of the very fabric of RTT Group. The blend of competencies, skills and experiential understanding is the basis upon which young people must base their careers. An Apprenticeship is highly regarded by the vast majority of senior managers, being seen as a ‘commitment to personal development’ by young people starting out in the world of work. We at RTT Group promote and foster the government’s Apprenticeship programme in a wide range of sectors and across the UK. I am very much looking forward to swapping roles with Shane and sharing with him some of the work that I do.”
