City MP Stewart Jackson is inviting local charities in Peterborough to contact him about the Centre for Social Justice Awards 2012. He is looking to nominate one or more local ‘poverty fighting’ charities from Peterborough for the 2012 awards.
Winning charities will receive a £10,000 cash prize, awarded at a high-profile event in London in July. The evening is a cross-party event, and award presenters in previous years have included the Rt Hon David Blunkett MP, the Rt Hon David Cameron MP, the Rt Hon Charles Kennedy MP, as well as Sir Bob Geldof and Zoë Wanamaker CBE.
Who can Stewart nominate?
- Local independent charities working to tackle the following issues:
- Family breakdown (strengthening and supporting families and relationships)
- Education failure (academic support, alternative education or training etc)
- Worklessness (training, mentoring and/or support for long term unemployed or other groups that are far from work)
- Debt (debt advice, support, financial education, financial inclusion etc)
- Addiction (recovery-based programmes leading to independence)
Stewart Jackson said:
“There are many worthy charities that do a lot of valuable work across Peterborough. This is a great opportunity to champion the work of our outstanding charities and the people who work with them
